But there is a mighty city in the north—great to make parades of sympathy and who would fain lead the literature and the law, and the gospel by its own light.—A city that appropriates to itself the title of the "Athens of America."—A city that stands isolated and alone, in sight of the stones of Plymouth has no sympathy to send so far away from home. She lives to herself—feels for herself—has large bowels of compassion for suffering humanity—and strong lungs for the cause of fanatical transcendentalism; but never has she a word to say when her sisters, and second cousins are in distress.
