EPITAPH.

STOP, passenger! with reverence view the dust
For here lies one who ne'er betray'd his trust;
Who gave no hopes but what he wish'd to crown—
True to his friends, did fortune smile or frown,
Favours receiv'd he never could forget,
And, though repaid, till death himself in debt.
With wit and sense enough, he never strove
Proudly to shine—except in acts of love.
Reader! how suits this picture to thy mind?
Art thou, like him, true, faithful, just and kind?
If not, reform, or hide thy head from shame:
This was a DOG—and Nero was his name.
