PROVO SIDEWALK EXTENSION.

Provo, Aug. 24.—Whitney H. Belmont's bid for paving sidewalk extensions Nos. 1 and 2, paving districts Nos. 10 and 11, was accepted by the council this evening. The bid is approximate $2,966. This sum is $300 lower than the tender of Boyle & Jones of Ogden.

The paving warrants under the new contract will run five years and will be in five equal installments. Heretofore the ten-year rule has prevailed. This evening before the council meeting the contractors were permitted to withdraw their bids, which had been made on the ten-year basis, and to submit them on the five-year system.

The payroll for the waterworks extension for the last two weeks, amounting to $291.20, was approved.

The committee on judiciary, with the city attorney added, reported that the allowance of $75 for the revision or transcribing of the ordinances was insufficient for the purpose. The committee was empowered to proceed with the work and to present audited claims for the duties of assistants. The additional amount required, it is said, will be $100 to $150.

Bathing is superb at Saltair.
