Reps. Homer Angell (R, Ore.) and Robert Secrest (D, Ohio) introduced companion bills which provide that every adult citizen in the U. S. be allotted equal basic social security payments, and which call for retirement benefits at the age of 60, instead of 65 as is now the case.
The measures also provide that persons under the age of 60 be paid insurance for total disability from the beginning of their illness or injury instead of waiting until they reach retirement age.
