NEW DRAMA GROUP ORGANIZED HERE
The Twin Cities newest amateur drama group was organized July 21 to provide an outlet for dramatic expression in the twin communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
"There has been no exposure to anything of this kind on an amateur level for some time," the organizers said, "And we strongly feel the need for such a theatrical group here to provide an outlet for talent as well as providing entertainment for the public."
Among those involved in forming the organization were Douglas Thompson, Louise Thomas, Hobart T. Mitchell Jr., Wilma Naves, Bev Roland, Juanita Myers, Don and Pat Battles. They, together with other organizers, agreed upon the name, "The Play Makers."
Any person in the Twin Cities interested in dramatics may contact Wilma Naves or Hobart Mitchell Jr. concerning membership.
"The Play Makers" are now planning a production for the latter part of August and will be publishing their activities regularly in this newspaper.
The group will use the facilities at Phyllis Wheatley House, 809 Aldrich Ave. N., whose head resident, Henry Thomas, has always been very cooperative and sympathetic toward drama organizations in the past.
