(Globe Silver Belt.)
At the plant of the Old Dominion Copper Mining & Smelting company, the usual amount of ore, about 700 tons daily, is being hoisted to supply the smelter. At present, the hoisting is being done through a shaft, as the management has apparently decided that it will not shut down this shaft to make repairs above the third level station until the new hoist ordered several months ago is on the ground and ready for installation. Although it was expected that the hoist would be shipped from the factory the first of May, it has developed that the shipment cannot be effected until June 10. So that the shaft will probably not be fully equipped until late in the summer. The excavations for the hoist, however, are completed and the concrete foundation is being put in. As soon as the hoist arrives, the head-frame at the A shaft will be raised, and while the work is under way the shaft will be shut down and the ore and waste will be hoisted.
