What is this article about?
A reader compliments the 'Working Christian' publication and questions the biblical source of its motto 'Diligent in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.' The editor responds that it is a paraphrase of Romans 12:11, preferring 'diligent' over 'not slothful,' and notes approval from Brother Mills of the Biblical Recorder.

Dear Working Christian: You have an excellent name, and, so far as I have been able to learn, are not unworthy of that name. You not only work yourself, but, by timely and wholesome advice, induce many others to work also. Long may you live to perform this important trust! But one thing strikes me a little singular in reference to your motto, Diligent in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord—a very good motto truly—and marked as quotation. I presume you intend to quote the Bible. Please tell me where I shall find it—in Genesis, Psalms, Malachi, or Revelation—or where, verbatim, such a passage ENQUIRER.
We did not intend to make a verbatim quotation; but only to give, as near as possible, the exact meaning of the original in one word. "Not slothful in business" is verbatim, as found in Romans xii, 11. We preferred the word "diligent" to "not slothful."
Brother Mills, of the Biblical Recorder, says he "rather likes the change." Ed. W. C.
