CHAMBERSBURG, PENN., MAY 5. Accident.

On Thursday night last, John Shettron of this neighborhood, on his way to Baltimore, with his wagon loaded with fourteen barrels of whiskey, while passing the turn of the South Mountain, not far from Moritz's tavern, owing to the darkness of the night the horses and wagon were precipitated down the precipice, the distance of near thirty yards, and lodged against a pine stump. By this accident an honest and industrious man, by the name of Martin, (who with his wife and two children were in the wagon, on their way to Littletown, Adams county,) lost his life, and strange to say, Mrs. Martin and the children escaped with but little injury.
