On board the American brig Caroline, captain Doak, detained on her passage from New York to Cherbourg, and sent into Falmouth by the Mars privateer of that port, captain Vinicombe, were found a packet of dispatches from the French charge d'affaires in America to the prince of Benevento (Talleyrand) and the other French ministers of state. They are confidently said to contain secrets of the first importance, relative to projects now in agitation between France and America. They were immediately sent off to London, for the information of the British cabinet.
