Full Text

CHARLESTON, APRIL 30.

The following is an extract of a letter to the Postmaster of this city, dated Bee's Creek. 26th inst.

The large quantity of rain that fell last week, has made the road almost impassable. The Saltcatcher is very high. The stage has been in the Swamp for a week, without my being able to get it out. The freshet in the Savannah river is so high that the water is overflowing into the Swamp, and has carried away all the bridges; and I have had to carry the mail all the way through the woods.
