PROVIDENCE, Dec. 17.

A Gentleman from Surinam, informs us, that Advice had been received there from Cayenne, that a Number of Transports from France, with 1000 French Families, were arrived in order to settle there:

-That the Man of War which convoyed those Transports, on the Passage fell in with a Dutch East India Ship, homeward bound, the Crew of which had mutinied, killed the Captain and Mate, and got the Command of the Vessel, with a rich Cargo on board: the French Captain luckily discovering the tragical Affair, took Possession of her and carried her into Cayenne, where the rebellious Crew were under Confinement.

We have no further Particulars respecting that Affair.
