Full Text
A Journalist To His Son
Be brief and strive for accuracy
And reason that is sound;
Cling ever to simplicity,
Seek not to be profound
Don't betray a confidence
For nothing could be worse;
Remember "Man bites dog"
Is news
And never the reverse.
Let right and justice be your aim;
Choose honor as your guide;
Be not for sale, but truth proclaim
Tho' on the weaker side.
Your pen should be a beacon light
To make men see and think;
They who have kept these rules in sight
Have never wasted printer's ink!
—Andy Razaf.
