Will Form Permanent District PAC at a Meeting Ravenna

The election of permanent officers of the new 14th Ohio Congressional District PAC will be held in Ravenna on April 6 to set a new high standard for political action by Labor in this section of the nation.
Harry Doll, CIO representative, was chosen temporary chairman of the district organization Lorain county recently, and will preside at the Ravenna meeting until permanent officers have been elected and seated.
The formation of the district PAC marks a new era in political action in this area. It plans to carry the campaign for votes to the residents of every ward and precinct in the four counties comprising the Congressional District--Summit, Medina, Portage and Lorain counties.
One of the chief functions of the district PAC will be to aid the campaign of Congressman Walter B. Huber and all other candidates for state and national office endorsed by the Ohio PAC. Congressman Huber has a 100 per cent Labor record in Congress, and a determined fight will be made by Labor for his reelection.
Under the direction of Paul M. Fessenden, executive secretary of Akron Industrial Union Council and head of the Council's PAC committee, rapid strides are being made in the present campaign for votes. Already

ward PAC charters have been issued for groups in the First, Second, Fifth and Sixth Wards and in Springfield Township. Various other ward and township charters will be issued in the near future, it is said.

The Ohio PAC is not expected to make endorsements for state office prior to the May Primary election, it is said. Various endorsements will be made, however, for national office.

Marvin C. Harrison, Cleveland, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for United States Senator, has been endorsed formally by the state body. Mr. Harrison was a speaker before the Akron Industrial Union Council last month and made a very favorable impression on the delegates.

In selecting Marvin C. Harrison as our choice for the United States Senate on the Democratic ticket, the primary consideration was in choosing the most likely man to defeat the Bricker-Taft reactionary bloc which operates not only on a state, but on a national level." said Jack Kroll

"We certainly felt," Kroll continued, "that the incumbent, Senator James Huffman and former Congressman Mr. Stephen Young, were men of outstanding qualifications for the U. S. Senate. However, it was the consensus that Mr. Harrison could defeat Bricker in 1946 and hence head off the reactionary interests in this country which saw the Senate seat as a shortcut for their darling to the White House."

Plans for the most vigorous campaign in the history of Akron's led Summit County Organized Labor are being made by the local PAC.

While little publicity is being given to the strategy to be used, those in charge of the work are exceptionally well satisfied with the progress that is being made, and they predict a record-breaking vote for Labor-endorsed candidates.
