A CENTENARIAN.

Tuesday one of the happiest and most glorious celebrations ever held in the parish was given to the Venerable Mrs. Placido Semore, who lives on her plantation near Breaux Bridge, in honor of her hundredth birthday.

Mrs. Semore notwithstanding her old age, is a very interesting person, having retained all her faculties.

At least five hundred persons were present at the home of Mrs. Semore to join in the pretty reception.

Mrs. Semore was born on the 12th day of January 1815, she was twice married, she is the only one living out of 14 brothers and sisters, she had 16 children only three daughters are now living and their heads as white as that of the mother. She has 147 children and grandchildren, running into the fourth generation.

Mrs. Semore is fond of company and a very interesting entertainer. She received on this occasion many presents and a nice little purse of money.
