" Permit me, Gentlemen, to express to you the satisfaction with which I have observed the good order and truly military appearance of the corps under your command--Whilst the militia of New-York continue to be animated by the patriotic sentiments which have led you to these exertions, they will prove a perpetual nursery of good soldiers and virtuous citizens."
These expressions of approbation from one whose character as a soldier claims the first rank both in America and Europe, and who during the late war was esteemed the military parent of the American army, must inspire sentiments in the militia of New-York, which cannot fail to excite the utmost exertions in pursuit of military acquirements.
