Full Text

Extract from a letter from a gentleman of the first intelligence in London, to a respectable merchant in Baltimore dated July 22.

We are very anxious to hear what your government will say to the demand made by this government in the case of the Little Belt. You must make a very humiliating apology, or keep your armed vessels in port—for you may rest assured that Sir Joseph Yorke's instructions are to SINK or DESTROY every one of them, in case the apology required is not made, I hope your government will act with spirit.
