Charlestown, South-Carolina, July 3.

About 6 Weeks ago, 14 of the Catawbas having been inform'd of the Præmium to be given by this Government for bringing Tuscarora Indians dead or alive, went out in Quest of them, and meeting a Party of 100 Men, they laid down in a Swamp to let them pass by; and seeing Three of that Party following at a Distance, they fired upon them, killed Two on the Spot, and wounded the Third. The Noise of the Guns alarming the others, they went to surround the Place, suspecting Enemies, but the Catawbas having scalp'd the two Men they had kill'd, escap'd, and came to Town on Tuesday last with the Fruit of their Party, 31 in Number.
