On Wednesday the 26th ult. a petition signed at Philadelphia by near one thousand respectable inhabitants, on the subject of the continental currency, with assurances of their most strenuous concurrence in such other means in addition to taxation for establishing its credit, as Congress may recommend, was presented to that Honourable Body. At a meeting of the subscribers, his Excellency Joseph Reed, Esquire, President of this state, the Honourable John Bayard, Esq; Speaker of the Assembly, the Honourable Colonel Smith, of the Council, with four other Gentlemen, had been requested to present it; they had the honour of being admitted into Congress, and presented it in person. And we hear that every member of that body, who has spoken on the subject, expressed the most entire satisfaction, in the matter and manner of this application.
