Bryan's Many Wives.

CHESTER, March 5.—Samuel Bryan, whose peculiar notions on marriage and divorce were reported in the Press yesterday, had a hearing before Alderman Deal this afternoon, and was held in $500 to appear at court, to answer to the charge of bigamy, preferred against him by Mrs. Bryan No. 8.

It was discovered that his first wife, whose maiden name was Rebecca Mulford, is now living at Lansdowne Station, and is married to a Mr. Bonner. Papers were served on her this morning to appear as a witness, but she first ran away from the constable on the public highway, and when he caught up with her she assaulted him by striking him in the face. He managed to read the paper to her, but she failed to appear at the Alderman's office. She will be compelled to appear when the case comes up at Media, and it is expected to do so at the present term of court.

Mrs. Bryan No. 3 and 4 were both present at the hearing. The latter, who lived with the prisoner at 1125 Catharine street, Philadelphia, was very indignant with him for the imposition on her, as she claimed he told her he was single when they were married, a few years ago, in Camden, N. J.
