Intrigue Against Minister Young.

A dispatch from Hong Kong, dated June 27, says: 'A curious intrigue exists against the agreeable reception of Mr. Young, United States Minister. The friends of Mr. Denny, United States Consul at Shanghai, declare that General Grant promised him the Peking mission and that Li Hung Chang found means of urging the appointment. Intelligent foreigners do not believe that General Grant made any definite promises and doubt the expediency of accepting Chinese statements regarding the recommendation of a candidate for such a post, but several unpleasant newspaper articles have been published upholding Mr. Denny and threatening Mr. Young with diplomatic and social ostracism. Mr. Denny denies having authorized the attack.'
