Messrs. Editors,
I obtained one of the books lately advertised by you, entitled the mode and subjects of Baptism, examined by Daniel Merrill, A. M.—and I am willing the world should know I am a thorough convert to his sentiments, and must confess I cannot see how any one can get along in any other way, who hold the scripture as the man of their counsel and guide of their lives, and do believe, were every preacher of the gospel to come forward in the honest, and upright manner in which Mr. Merrill has, and confess their faults and errors, that all their churches and congregations, would, like his, embrace the truths of the gospel.—
May the Lord, prevent public teachers from any longer fighting against him with their eyes wide open; and prevent their any longer blinding the eyes of those of their hearers, who have long been brought to see the gospel ordinances in their true light, but are fearful of wounding the feelings of their Ministers, by coming out and declaring themselves to be on the Lord's side fully.
