Extract of a Letter from Capt. Charles C. Russell, dated Cape Francois, Dec. 13. 1785

On the 24th of November last, in latitude 33, and long. 61, (after a very heavy gale of wind) spoke a Ship, Thomas Knights, commander, from Waterford, bound to New-York, having been fifteen days water logged, and in a most dismal situation, with even feet of water in the hold; the Captain and crew of which I took on board my vessel; in a short time after the ship sunk. The next day, meeting with an English brig, bound to Antigua, I put on board Capt. Knights, his mate, and eight hands; the remainder, seven in number I brought in here.
