From a private letter received from Prof. E Longley, late of Emory and Henry College, we infer that he will be associated the coming year with Professors Poynter and Jordan in Science Hill Academy, Shelbyville, Ky.
From his private letter we take the liberty to extract the following:
"My parting pangs spring from association, and nobody is to blame for them. Here I have wrought arduously, with christian purpose, all through the strong days of my life. My impression has touched four or five thousand pupils. Here I met, loved, and married Mary Hammond. Here is the birth-place of my children. Farewell chapel, scene of the marriage and the funeral! I have preached my last sermon there, prayed my last prayer.—Every spot around is sacred, and one the most sacred spot to me on the broad earth. Farewell, O grave! but to thee, I trust, not a last farewell; for bury me, kind friends, close by, when I am dead."
—Holston Methodist.
