WILMINGTON,
Saturday--May 23.
At a meeting of Federal Republicans, of Newcastle county, at the house of John Crow, in the town of Newcastle, on the 20th of May, 1801--Colonel Isaac Grantham was unanimously appointed Chairman, and James M. Broom Secretary.
On motion of Mr. Johns, seconded by Mr. Bayard, it was resolved, that a committee be appointed to confer with the Conferees of Kent and Sussex on the subject of fixing on a proper person, to be supported as a candidate for the office of Governor, at the ensuing election.
Whereupon, James A. Bayard, Maxwell Bines, Wm. Nelson, Nicholas Vandyke, and Robert Hamilton, were unanimously elected for that purpose.
And thereupon, the meeting was adjourned till Saturday the 1st day of August next, to meet at Christiana-Bridge, at the house of William Shannon, at ten o'clock, A. M.
Resolved further, That the minutes of this meeting be published.
