Three young men from Michigan State Normal College at Ypsilanti. Michigan, arrived in Seward Friday with an 18-foot open Rainier runabout. equipped with a 33 h.p. outboard motor.
They came via Alaska Steam this far on the Baranof.
The young fellows, James A. Nagy and Kenneth J. Holm, both of Rochester, Mich., and Gerald S. Goldberg of Brooklyn, will start their cruise from Seward, along the shores of Resurrection Bay, exploring Prince William Sound as far as Cordova. They hope to get into Cook Inlet before their trip is over.
"We have heard so much about Alaska and always wanted to come up here," said Nagy. "Everything back home is so crowded. so many restrictions. We wanted to see some of the open country and get out of crowds."
They were told that they have come to the right place, because it is pretty hard to get a crowd together even when one is wanted.
The two boys from Rochester are boyhood friends. having attended high school together and then gone to college. They are stocking in provisions and camera supplies, and have a high powered rifle for protection.
They are not too familiar with boats and know nothing at all about Alaskan waters. Needless to say, they are receiving verbal admonition from all and sundry about "what ya oughta do."
