From the Palladium.

It is known that two ships have lately sailed from France on a voyage of discovery. Among the imputed objects are, to make magnetic observations and to find those parts where the ocean gains on the land, and the contrary. A voyage for such objects it appears was proposed to the French government before the reign of Bonaparte, by Mr. Churchman, an American received with politeness; but not then adopted. He presented a work on the subject, which was preferred to the national institute. That work may have had some influence in promoting the voyage now performing, and may conduce to its success. If so, we hope Mr. Churchman will have his share of the credit.
