COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION.

Yesterday morning applicants for teacherships in the public schools, to the number of about one hundred, were examined in the Franklin Girls' School, on St. Charles street.

Messrs. J. K. Gutheim, W. O. Rogers and Paul Capdevielle composed the board of examiners.

There are three classes of candidates competing—those applying for teacherships, those desiring to be removed from a primary to a grammar school, and those postulating the professorship of natural sciences. To-day the examination will be continued, and in a week the board will give its decision.
