A sad accident occurred at Camp No 12, Marietta and North Georgia railroad, last Saturday morning Allen Gladden, of Cherokee county, N.C., who was bossing the saw mill squad, was killed and terribly mangled and his brains scattered by the saw. An inquest was held by the notary public, in the absence of coroner. The verdict of the jury was that the deceased came to his death by his own carelessness. He was kicking the sawdust from the saw and was caught by the saw. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn their loss. He was a county commissioner at home and a good citizen.

The company, at their own expense, prepared him for burial and sent him to North Carolina for burial.
