N A V Y.—Great Britain has a navy consisting of upwards of a thousand ships of war—a great part of which, were taken in battle or stolen from other powers, and many of them still retain their original names.
It is a question (says the Long Island Star) which will probably come before Congress, whether to the above list there shall not be added a string of American names; and our shipwrights be immediately employed in building a navy? Whether the "Mammoth shall not plunge into the ocean to contend with the Shark?" What with the honor of a republic the best men in our country, in to build a navy to be blockaded along the coast. Of consequence to us whether our employ 100 or 200 ships to prevent on traversing the ocean. Enterprise is disposed to pursue sailing vessels, of small value, But whenever we build a navy of power, that can send a navy of us beyond under our blood and enrich our enemy.
