The Nashville Republican of the 6th inst., says that the steamboat James Dick, lying at the lower landing of that city, was discovered to be on fire this morning between 3 and 4 o'clock, and before anything could be done, the flames had made such progress as to defy all attempts even to save the property on her. The fire originated in the ladies' cabin. The freight destroyed, so far as could be ascertained, consisted of 180 bales cotton, 130 bags corn, and 25 hogsheads tobacco, which was insured in New Orleans. Some bacon and other freight, value not known, was also lost. The boat was insured for $7,500 in Louisville. The Dick was about four years old, and was a good boat.
