Now Produced in Forfeiture Bond Case, Tells Court He's Not Right One.
Rocco Digillo, surrendered under the name of Salvator Pasquale by Felipo Metola to save a forfeited bail bond of $1,000, told Judge Crain, in General Sessions, to-day that he was not Salvator Pasquale, who has been under indictment for assault for three years.
Digillo said that Sabato Vigorito, a professional bondsman of No. 223 East Second avenue, had hired him to impersonate Pasquale.
The first bond of Pasquale was forfeited in February, 1909. Vigorite had furnished the bond. A few days later Vigorite brought a man to court who, he said, was Pasquale. The forfeiture was set aside and Metela, a bondsman furnished by Sabato, became surety for $1,000. This bond was forfeited in April of last year, Metela apparently not being aware of any deception. To-day he saw the supposed Pasquale on the street and hurried him to court.
Digillo protested against being locked up, saying that he knew nothing of the case except that Vigorite had hired him two years ago to appear in court and answer to the name of Pasquale.
