[Extract from Leading Editorial "Ouachita Telegraph" of May 6, 1868.]

Let the Democratic Convention nominate WINFIELD S. HANCOCK, one of the bravest and noblest of Federal Generals, as well as most successful, and they have the Radical ticket defeated from the word, Go! Hancock can carry Pennsylvania and New York beyond doubt, and put some good western man on the ticket for Vice President and the game is won. November will then tell such a tale in favor of Democracy and republican institutions as this country never heard or dreamed of before. HANCOCK is a General and proficient in his calling, beside which he has shown that he is a statesman and a true American who is imbued with the deepest convictions of the purity and superiority of a true Democratic form of government. He is pre-eminently the representative General and man of the times, upon whose ideas of restoration the Union must be reconstructed, otherwise dissolution will be a success, in spite of congressional enactments, treasure and all the blood spilt to defeat it.
