The nominations made at the Democratic Convention on Saturday, were as follows:
For the Legislature--J. P. Hornish, of Keokuk, Lucey, of Franklin, and Redick, of Montrose.
For Sheriff--Hedges.
For County Judge--McCready.
For Treasurer, &c.--Allyn.
For County Surveyor--N. McCullough.
For Coroner--Pat. Gilligan.
It is by no means a strong ticket in any respect, and with one or two exceptions the candidates are utterly unfit for the positions for which they are named. A ticket so generally contemptible in its personnel, we never remember put forth by either party during the many years that we have resided in the Empire County. And when that is admitted, as it generally will be, it would be hard to say anything worse of the ticket or the party which has put it in nomination, in the estimation of old settlers.
