Further evidence was given yesterday at the investigation by the Commissioner of Accounts of Borough President Coler's office going to show that promoters of Coney Island amusement places made presents to officials of the Building Department of Brooklyn.

Testimony has been given to the effect that Edward A. Langan, the chief inspector of elevators in the bureau of buildings, became interested in the Friede Globe Tower Company. One of the witnesses called yesterday was August Fleming, who was connected with a company that was to rival the Friede concern. Fleming said that his company, through a real estate agent of Brooklyn, had sent Langan $100 for approving the plans for an amusement device which was to be operated by the Fleming company.

Fleming said that he had no means of knowing whether or not the money reached Langan, but he testified that a day or two after the transaction he met Langan and said to him "Did you get that?" meaning the money.

"Langan replied," said Fleming, "'Don't talk about it,' or something like that, but I am sure, though, that he got the money."

Fleming said also that Langan had received a box of cigars from an amusement concern and that there was folded in the box a one thousand dollar bill. Fleming had to admit, however, that his only information came from Langan himself.

"Langan told me," he said, "that he had inspected the Red Devil Rider device and the men connected with it had made him a present of a box of cigars and that on the top of the cigars was a one thousand dollar bill." Fleming was not certain whether or not Langan had said that he accepted the present and added that he did not know who sent the box of cigars to Langan.
