Fred Thorpe, of Conconully, democratic candidate for sheriff, was in Oroville Monday while on a whirl around the northeastern part of the county setting up his fences. Older residents of the county know Mr. Thorp well, and any one knowing him well cannot help liking the man. He served this county years ago as sheriff and he was a terror to evil doers. He also held the position of deputy United States marshal for several years under the Wilson administration, and made an excellent reputation in that office.
