Full Text
When cleaning up the broken rock at the breast of the Central tunnel early yesterday morning, after the round of holes blasted at the close of the previous shift, it was discovered that another vein had been intersected by that tunnel at a point approximately 5,740 feet in from the portal. The lode appears to be about 30 inches wide, lies at angle of 45 degrees and courses almost due northeast and southwest. The vein matter contains iron scattered throughout the entire width, and has a small streak several inches wide of solid copper-iron resembling concentrates. Samples of ore have been forwarded to Denver to be assayed under the red tape methods of the company, and in the course of a week or two the results may be made public. The vein is believed by Manager Willis to be the Nichols lode owned by the tunnel company.
