Full Text
The Oxford (N. C.) Mercury, of the 14th inst., adds another to the list of foul tragedies which have recently disturbed the quiet of one land.
On Tuesday night last, as Richard Bullock, Esq., was standing near the piano, on which his daughter was playing, he was shot through the window and died in a few moments. It is supposed that the muzzle of the gun could not have been more than three feet from him, as all the shot entered his body within a small space of each other. A coroner's inquest was held shortly the next day, and a verdict 'fired by an unknown hand,' rendered—no arrests on suspicion rest on any one.
