THE SANE MIDDLE GROUND

On the question of government ownership of utilities as with most other questions the sane middle ground is the best. The man unalterably opposed to government ownership has views that are obsolete and unsafe. On the other hand the man who would go to the opposite extreme is equally unwise. In some lines of business and industry government ownership is the only possible course if we are to have the results the country needs. The war has proven this. The reconstruction era will further emphasize the fact. The country cannot afford to take up with those who oppose every form of government development and ownership anymore than can it afford to go to the extremes advocated by the socialists.
