Recent accounts from the North of Europe appear to be favorable to American commerce. A letter from Mr. Williams in London, dated July 6th, says—
"This moment I get advices from Mr. Joseph Pitcairn, dated 18th June, of which I give you the substance.— Three vessels had arrived with coffee and some sugar at Tonningen, and were freely admitted by the Danish government; which gave the most positive assurances that they would continue to protect and receive them— Mr. Pitcairn recommends the Danish port of Kiel for those who are bound to Russia; the distance from it to Hamburg is small, with regular wagons and the harbor good. He adds, that there is no law of Denmark against vessels which have been boarded, or touched at England, tho' it would be so much the better if neither happened; but the ship's papers must clearly show that the whole cargo was shipped in the U. S.
"Mr. Pitcairn has written to several captains and supercargoes at Gottenburg, recommending the port of Kiel, from its vicinity to Hamburg, where teas, nankeens and sugars will produce higher prices than farther up the Baltic."
We understand that accounts are also favorable from the South—that cargoes are sold at Sardinia, and from thence find a channel to the continent, at a good price.
