Officers Hale and Belcher said they answered a call to the corner of Jean and [where?] they picked up Alice Henderson and at her request went to the rear of 46 Daniel Street where they arrested Gates.

The policemen, with their two prisoners, made a trip to Grady Hospital where the woman's wounds were treated. After arriving in the rear of the police station, Officer Belcher escorted his prisoners into the lobby of the police lieutenant's headquarters, while Patrolman Hale parked the police car.
