Dear Irene:
My husband and I are both middle age. Until recently he has been a model husband and father. Now he has started to run around with girls young enough to be his daughter. This is embarrassing to me and the children. It is also damaging his stature in the community. How can I get him to go back to being his former self?

Dear Mrs. D:
Perhaps your husband wants you to be your former self. When was the last time you showed him some genuine appreciation for being a model husband and father? I'm not referring to keeping a clean house, and washing and ironing his clothes. He can hire someone to do that for him, but he can't hire genuine appreciation. This running around now appears to be a search for appreciation. Young girls are terrific ego builders, and they do really appreciate older men, because they are so much more mature than men their own age. If you can make your husband feel appreciated at home, he will probably stay there.
