friend America has in Asia, Gen.
Carlos P. Romulo told the Food
Wholesalers Convention
at the
Hilton Hotel
here tonight.
"I have said this time
and again but I re-
peat it now be-
cause the stand taken
by the Philippine dele-
gation to the United
Nations General Assem-
PRES. GARCIA bly
throws into bold relief, more than anything I
can say, the determination of the
Garcia administration to show its
loyalty to the ideals of democ-
racy and freedom," the Ambas-
sador declared.
"It was on the specific orders
of Pres. Garcia that our delega-
tion took the firm stand against
Mr. Krushchev that so aroused the
Soviet Premier. It was also Pres.
Garcia who signed the law out-
lawing the Communist Party from
the Philippines and it was he who
recently invited the American
Government to establish its mis-
sile bases in the Philippines."
