Full Text

Maysville, June 22.

Maysville and Lexington Road.—We understand that the Engineer of the Maysville and Lexington Turnpike, in conjunction with his assistant, completed, on Saturday last, the location of the Road from the south end of Washington to the town of Paris. The location will be presented to the Directory during the present week, for their approbation. We rejoice to learn that unusual zeal is manifested by the Directory and the friends of the road generally, to prosecute the work with all possible despatch, notwithstanding the paralyzing influence of General Jackson's veto. The road will go on. Many enterprising and public spirited individuals have done much—some, more, probably, than they were well enabled to do—to advance this highly important improvement. They are determined to make a still more powerful exertion—and we doubt not that many who have hitherto been mere "lookers on"—interested but not active—will now place their shoulders to the wheel, and put forth their strength.
