" General Izard with his army arrived at Chippeway without accomplishing his object ; and at this time is containing this fort. So soon as it is accomplished, (which will be in a few days,) the army will cross to Black Rock to build Huts. Brother French-Mills scrape ! building huts in the winter ! Colonel Hindman remains at this Fort with 300 of his corps and 200 Infantry--in the general opinion a force much too small to hold this place long. as the enemy have from 8 to 10,000 men at Chippaway. Gen. Brown with his army marched to Sackett's Harbor to take up Winter Quarters."
It is rumored that most of the British troops have gone down in the Fleet-perhaps to make a descent on Sackett's Harbor."
