An Indian, who went by the name of "Big Billy," and was well known to older residents of the county, was killed, Tuesday, by being thrown from his horse at Potter ranch, south from San Pedro. Word was brought to Ely that the Indian had been murdered, and Coroner Cartwright and Deputy Sheriffs Millick and Nicholson, went to the place, Thursday, making the trip in an auto, with George Jetter at the wheel. On arrival, they found that Justice of the Peace George T. Smith had already held an inquest, and found verdict of accidental death.
"Billy's" remains were brought to the Nevin & Graham undertaking rooms, and buried yesterday, in the Ely cemetery. The deceased was about 55 years old.
