MR. GEORGE WASHINGTON DUVAL disappeared from his home near Muscatine, Iowa, sixteen years ago, and it was demonstrated to the satisfaction of his friends and creditors that he had been murdered. Mrs. Duval recognized the body by its teeth and a scar on the leg, and then she went first into hysterics and subsequently into poetry commemorative of the good qualities of the deceased. Muscatine mourned a season for Duval, and then he was forgotten until, quite recently, he was discovered in Portland, Oregon, living quietly and cosily with the wife who recognized his body by its teeth and the scar on its leg. "Mr. Duval will be called on to explain."
