The Harrisburg Convention will assemble on the 30th inst. It will be a large body: many of its members are highly distinguished for talent and worth—among these are the Hon. Calvin Goddard, of Connecticut, and the Hon. Wm. Hall, jun. who in 1814 were members of the Hartford Convention, ONE OF THE MOST PATRIOTIC BODIES OF MEN WHICH EVER MET!!"
The above paragraph is from the Salem (Mass.) Gazette. All the harm we wish the above named Honorables is that they may be tarred and feathered by the honest and patriotic Pennsylvanians before they leave Harrisburg. Their presence is pollution—and their aid can benefit no cause they espouse. It is to us a matter of surprise that honest and patriotic men could not be sent to this Convention. What did Goddard and Hall care for the manufactures of America during the late War? We have not forgotten, if others have, that they, with their brother tories, stood ready to betray their country and every thing dear to their countrymen, and at a time too which rendered their crime doubly guilty and for which the everlasting contempt of the American people is too slight a punishment. Let no honest man take them by the hand at Harrisburg.
