TO HIM WHO OVERCOMETH
"A hero falls, and down the halls
of fame
A name rings out and children speak
that name
Reverently, women gently, men with
tears,
And all the right to pay due tribute
claim.
Come we to lay, throughout the pass-
ing years,
Boses of love and rue of bitter tears.
Blossoms and garlands on the hal-
lowed mounds
Of those who died so bravely. Time
endears
Our heroes to us and the bitter pain
Is bitter still. The anguish must re-
main
The while we bow before the sacri-
fice,
We whisper, "Surely, this was not in
vain."
But what of these--the heroes who
now live?
These men who gave the best they
had to give--
And giving asked no guerdon but to
know
t was their best?
Iardly can we believe God counts it
less-the sacrifice they made;
or counts it less the bitter price they
paid,
When for their home and country
they gave all-
And nobly all on Freedom's altar
laid.

cola Journal.
