HOUSE OF DELEGATES.
1843.
1841.
The Whigs have gained, nett, fourteen members at this election, and their majority in the House of Delegates is twenty. The Locos made a desperate effort to carry the City of Baltimore in which they succeeded.—This is to be accounted for, says the Baltimore Patriot, by the great increase of the vote of the city which is 2000 greater than a year ago, and that the Loco Focos availed themselves of this increase may be judged from the fact that five men have already been arrested and committed to prison for illegal voting—but notwithstanding illegal votes, money freely used, (British Gold) and defamatory libels, the Whigs have achieved a glorious victory. The official vote for Governor is not known, but the reported majority is 562. Glory enough for one day.
