Extract of a letter from NEWCASTLE, Aug. 26.

"As the press ought to be a reward to those that do well, as well as a terror to evil doers," we ought to take notice of the noble and disinterested conduct of two very respectable Gentlemen, John Addison, of Whitby, Esq; and Thomas Maude, of this town, who have rejected every offer of employment for their ships in the Government service, for the purposes of the American war, although they are deeply engaged in shipping, and the times are very bad in that article."
